A double-walled aluminum cap that lifts wide for the whole bed, with no flimsy hinges to fail. Fitted and set up in Bay City.
The Matrix GT is a different take on the truck topper. Instead of a heavy fiberglass shell with side doors, small hinges, and external handles, Black River builds it from double-walled .063 automotive-grade aluminum and uses a patent-pending opening system that lifts wide for full, unrestricted access to the bed. No crawling, no digging to reach the front. The shell runs about 60 percent lighter than a comparable fiberglass cap, which matters on a half-ton truck that is already close to its payload.
The build leans on parts that last. OEM-quality gas struts handle the lift. A full-perimeter weather seal keeps water, dust, and debris out. The finish is an AAMA-certified matte black UV-protected powder coat that skips the long-term fade you see on gel-coated fiberglass. DOT-rated tempered glass keeps visibility up, and there are no external handles or tiny hinges to break, which is why Black River calls it close to the most maintenance-free topper on the market.
It arrives fully assembled with a no-drill install using retention brackets, and an optional Matrix Power Lift Kit adds push-button electric opening.
Double-walled .063 automotive-grade aluminum runs about 60 percent lighter than a comparable fiberglass cap, at about 120 to 130 lbs on the truck.
PATENT-PENDING OPENING SYSTEM
A Matrix GT and a Pro-Line spray-on liner turn the bed into a sealed, protected cargo space. The liner bonds to the floor and walls and shrugs off salt and impacts. The cap seals the top against weather and theft. Do both in one visit.
The Matrix family. The GT is the versatile pick, and we can order any of the three.
The versatile pick. DOT-rated tempered glass on sides and rear, wide-opening lid with about 78 inches of head clearance, single-point rear latch, dual adjustable slam latches, and a 15 inch low-profile LED brake light with a smoked lens. Fits a standard 7 foot garage opening.
About 105 to 120 cubic feet, 120 to 130 lbs, optional power lift
The windowless security build. A sealed aluminum cargo box with no glass and no latches to target, in the same aluminum construction and weight class.
Maximum security for tools and gear
The max-volume build. Pushes enclosed capacity to about 138 cubic feet for 6.5 and 8 foot beds.
The most room in the family
Facts, not hype.

The Matrix family fits most current F-150 and Raptor, Silverado and Colorado, Sierra and Canyon, Super Duty, and Tacoma configurations, and it clears a standard 7 foot garage opening. It does not fit RAM Box or Chevy CarbonPro beds. Wade and the crew confirm fitment before you commit and set the topper up right here at 3737 Wilder Rd in Bay City, sealed for Michigan rain, snow, and road salt.
What Bay City truck owners ask us most about the Matrix GT.
A patent-pending opening system that lifts the whole lid wide for full-bed access, an aluminum shell about 60 percent lighter than fiberglass, and a design with no external handles and no small hinges, which are the parts that usually fail first.
Double-walled .063 automotive-grade aluminum with an AAMA-certified matte black UV-protected powder coat and DOT-rated tempered glass. Aluminum also skips the paint fade that gel-coated fiberglass caps get over time.
The GT is the all-around pick with glass and good visibility. The ST is windowless for maximum security, a sealed aluminum box for tools and gear. The XL gives full-size beds the most volume, around 138 cubic feet. Tell us how you use the bed and we will match you.

Yes, with the optional Matrix Power Lift Kit, which adds push-button electric opening and closing. We can include it with the topper or set it up for you.
Tell us your truck and how you load the bed. We will confirm fitment, quote it straight, and set it up in-house.
A cap turns the bed into enclosed, lockable cargo space. A tonneau cover keeps the bed low, open, and quick to use. If you are weighing the two, look at the Extang and TruXedo lineup before you decide.
